Student Forum for Health and Social Justice 2011

Student Forum for Health and Social Justice 2011

On Sunday, September 25th, Alpha Epsilon Delta helped to organize the Student Forum for Health and Social Justice along with a group of summer interns from Partners in Health. This conference brought together student activists and speakers from many disciplines to discuss global advocacy efforts and the ways in which students can access and affect the mechanisms that influence change in global health.

Many prominent speakers from Partners in Health and its praxis network joined the forum and lent their views to the conference. The forum featured a health-experts panel, a student panel, and breakout sessions. From large scale policy change efforts to every day individual activism, panelists explored pertinent issues in the field of global health.

Welcome Back!

We at Boston University are the Massachusetts Gamma Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the national health pre-professional honor society. We bring together students in the pre-medial, pre-dental, and pre-veterinary tracks for professional development and community service work involving health outreach. This year, we hope to increase our level of involvement among members by promoting more opportunities to get involved with AED as well as with the community around us. Currently, we have a great volunteering opportunity with The Greater Boston Food Bank, where our group will be able to sign up once a month to go serve food and help provide health care information to those in need. We are planning to have monthly meetings to keep everyone on the same page and to update everyone on the other exciting events coming up this year. We are looking forward to our group coming more closely together this year not only to prepare ourselves for furthering our health education, but also to make a positive impact at our school and community.
