BU AED Social Dinner

Dinner’s on us this Friday!

Join BUAED for dinner on March 2nd at Uno’s Chicago Grill at Kenmore Square.

We haven’t had a social event this semester, and after the successful MCAT Bowl (Thanks for everyone who came out), we’d like to get everyone together again!

This event is for all members – that’s right, all provisional and active members. It’ll be a great opportunity to meet your e-board and the rest of the AED members. The dinner will also be a great opportunity for us to socialize outside BU (as if pre-meds aren’t on campus enough, right?).

Uno’s is close to campus, and we’re sure most of you know where it is. If not, feel free to contact us or Google it.

The event will take place from 5:30 PM, to 8:00 PM and the food will be served at 6:00 PM. Of course, you don’t have to stay for the whole time, but we hope you’ll be there long enough to enjoy some good food and company.

We hope to see you all there!

ATTENTION!!!

Please RSVP by Wednesday, February 29th if you plan on coming! We want to know how many of you to expect so we can order the right amount of food! You can RSVP by joining our group on facebook HERE, or e-mailing us at AED@BU.edu

Annual AED/KAPLAN MCAT Quiz Bowl 2012

This year the annual MCAT Quizbowl took place on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. The Global Medical Brigades of Boston University and the Pre-medical Society of Boston University both took part in this year’s QuizBowl. The QuizBowl this year had record attendance, and AED was proud to work in conjunction with the members of GMB @ BU and the PMS of BU. We’d like to thank KAPLAN for hosting the QuizBowl in conjunction with AED.

AED Networking Event

Wednesday, December 7th @ 8:00 PM

Photonics Room 201

We hope you have all had a restful Thanksgiving break, and are ready to finish off the semester. We wanted to e-mail you to let you know that we will be holding a networking event for all AED members next Wednesday, December 7th at the Photonics Building Room 201 (PHO 201) at 8 PM. As mentioned in our first meeting, this is a chance for all of us to share research and shadowing experiences, as well has tips on how to obtain these opportunities.
As this will also count as a general meeting, we encourage all members to attend. (Remember that you are required to attend 3 such meetings for the year!)
Many of us will be able to walk away with clear objectives on where and how to look for worthwhile internships for the spring and summer. This is especially important because many summer internships will soon beginning accepting applications!
The first half of the event will be a short panel consisting of 5 of our members, who will speak about their research and shadowing internships. They will discuss how they began their internships, some specific tips for applications, and what they learned from their experiences. If any of you had a great experience that you’d like to share with the rest of the AED members, please let us know! We are still looking for 1 – 2 more members to be on the panel. (The Panel will be informal, so extensive preparation is not required).
The second half of the event will allow everybody to break out and join two main discussions: One focusing on shadowing and medical school applications and the other focusing on research and internships. This will mainly be for all of you to get to know the other members and network within the organization.
The event will be catered, so come take a break from your studies for an informative night on how to expand your health and medical experience outside of academics! We hope to see everybody there!

Our first general meeting will be held on October 12th at 8:00 PM in CAS Room 323B. We expect all members to attend. In the event that you cannot attend, please contact the E-board to let us know.
